Day 2 of the Africa Regional Workshop, co-hosted by the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons and the Republic of Austria in partnership with Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) and Article 36 zeroes in on what implementation truly looks like.
Discussions begin with a critical focus on assistance to conflict-affected communities addressing victim support, humanitarian access, clearance efforts and risk education while exploring how governments and humanitarian actors can work together to support recovery and rebuild lives.
The conversation shifts to Africaβs leadership on the EWIPA agenda, examining how the Declaration aligns with the continentβs peace, security and development priorities and how African states can drive stronger engagement at national, sub-regional and continental levels.
The day culminates in a forward-looking session on practical steps for implementation and cooperation, where delegates identify concrete actions and share priorities and pathways for sustained collaboration across the continent.
From strengthening support systems to shaping regional leadership and defining actionable steps, Day 2 is firmly focused on turning commitment into coordinated and measurable impact for civilian protection in Africa.
