A three-member delegation of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior has paid a working visit to the National Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons. The delegation was led by the Committee’s Chairman Hon. George Kofi Arthur, MP for Amenfi Central. The other members of the delegation were Hon. Ernest Kofi Yaka, Vice-Chairman of the Committee and MP for New Edubiase and Mr. Charles Dery a research officer to the Committee.

In a brief remark, the Chairman of the Committee Hon. George Kofi Arthur said the visit was to enable Committee members determine the needs and requirements of institutions and agencies under the two ministries and make recommendations for Parliament to improve their work conditions..

On his part, a Senior Programmes Officer of the Commission, Mr. Gyebi Asante commended members of the Committee for their visit, noting that it was the first time the Select Committee had visited the Commission.

He enumerated the work of the Commission since its establishment and outlined some challenges the Commission was facing. He appealed to the Committee to assist the Commission address those challenges.
