A delegation from The Small Arms Commission, led by the Ag. Executive Secretary, Dr. Adam Adamu Alhassan Bonaa, paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorrogo.
The meeting served as a platform for both institutions to strategise on enhancing inter-agency collaboration, with a strong focus on arms and border control efforts. Key among the issues discussed was NACSA’s integration into the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) to enhance cargo tracking and monitoring, with both parties acknowledging its potential to improve NACSA’s oversight of cargo movement and ensuring greater oversight of cross-border arms trafficking.
Recognizing the critical role of the Customs Division in border control, Dr. Bonaa reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Division to enhance security measures and improve inter-agency coordination at Ghana’s entry and exit points. With eight border offices including Aflao, Elubo, Paga, Hamile, Oseikojokrom and the Tema Port, NACSA continues to play a crucial role in controlling the movement of illicit arms and ammunition.
Brigadier General Zibrim Ayorrogo expressed his appreciation for NACSA’s visit and reiterated the Division’s commitment to fostering strong partnership with the Commission to safeguard national security.
